The Nanaimo Women's Resource Centre and Streetwise Designs would like to recognize the traditional Territories of Snuneymuxw, Snaw Naw As and Stzuminus, as well as the home of the Mid Island Metis Nation.

Streetwise Cafe

Streetwise Designs is a youth-led group focused on building resiliency by helping youth to recognize their own value, creativity, and capacity. The group is for youth between ages 13 to 24. Participants can be self-referred or are referred by an agency. One-on-one supports, skill building, and referrals to community support are also included in this program.

We have Cafe events happening around Nanaimo in October and December 2018 and also 2 more coming up in 2019. These can be indoor, learning how to make "zines", playing Cards Against Humanity, baking, meditation workshops and more. We also organize outdoor events like disc golf at Bowen Park during warmer weather. The Streetwise Cafe has free coffee, tea, drinks, and snacks at these events. We're always brainstorming new ideas for activities so contact us if there is something you would be interested in!

If you are a youth experiencing any kind of challenges, are at risk of exploitation or are experiencing unstable housing, this group is for you. You tell us what you need!
